Woodmark Commercial Services today announced the signing by its retail division of several restaurants to new leases in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The transactions included:
• Au Bon Pain, a 3,000 renewal at 1801 L Street, NW in Washington, DC and a 1,000 square foot lease at 470-490 L’Enfant Plaza, SW in Washington, DC
• William Jeffrey’s Tavern, a 6,500 square foot new restaurant at Siena Park, 2301 Columbia Pike in Arlington, VA
• Boundary Road, a 4,500 square foot new restaurant at 414 H Street, NE in Washington, DC
Woodmark Vice President of Retail Services, Anastasia Kharchenko, noted the improving atmosphere for retail and restaurants, saying, “The Washington DC market is experiencing a strong resurgence in consumer demand that has contributed to increased activity in retail and restaurant leases. Both William Jeffrey’s Tavern and Boundary Road also demonstrate the interest by restaurateurs in opening neighborhood destinations in reviving communities fueled by increased economic development.”
William Jeffrey’s Tavern and Boundary Road are both new restaurant concepts by local restaurateurs. William Jeffrey’s Tavern, now in the design phase and planned for opening in fall 2011, will bring the comfortable atmosphere of a modern gastro tavern to Siena Park, a mixed-use project on Columbia Pike in Arlington, VA. The 6,530 square foot restaurant will feature a menu of quality eclectic American cuisine along with a well-stocked bar with an extensive list of beers on tap. The restaurant, owned by three local partners, Wilson Whitney, Adam Lubar and Chris Lefbom, is designed for the growing Columbia Pike corridor and hopes to attract local customers who value a quality neighborhood restaurant experience where they can gather with family and friends and watch a favorite sports team. The restaurant group already has two locations in Arlington and one in Falls Church.
Boundary Road is a new restaurant concept at 414 H Street, NE, designed to have a comfortable atmosphere, a menu that balances creativity with local staples, and a rustic bar with an eclectic beverage program. Boundary Road will be headed by Karlos Leopold and Chef Brad Walker who have twenty years combined restaurant and bar experience in DC. The restaurant will be an H Street neighborhood gathering place where local residents will come for a comfortable place to unwind after work, a meeting spot for a group of friends to celebrate their birthday, or a Sunday brunch spot to catch up with family and friends. Boundary Road will also bring foodies a memorable dining experience. High-quality affordable food prepared from fresh local ingredients is the backbone of the menu that features American favorites and regional cuisine from DC, Maryland and Virginia with an international flair. Boundary Road Restaurant will open in late 2011. 414 H Street, with its historic charm, high ceilings and distinguished façade, will be renovated by the tenant.
